GOALS

We are now 51 days into the new year.  Are you still focused on exercising and eating right?  If you are, I extend a hearty congratulations for sticking to your goals! However, if you have fallen off the new years resolution bandwagon, let me offer you this advice.

Write, or re-write (which ever the case might be) your ultimate goal.  For instance, “lose 20 pounds by summer”, is your ultimate goal.  Awesome!  So, how do you make this goal a reality? The first step will be to break the ultimate goal down into smaller easily attainable goals.  Nutrition is something you can tweak.  So, take a look at what you consume each day.  Let’s say you drink 6 diet colas a day and eat at a fast food restaurant 3 times a week. The first attainable goal will be to reduce your cola consumption in half and replace those sodas with water.  The second attainable goal will be to reduce your fast food intake to 1 time a week.  Find a healthier alternative if packing a lunch is not your thing. All of our grocers now offer ready to eat meals that are tasty and healthy.

Then, take a look at your exercise program.  Oh, you don’t have one?  I suggest you start by going for a walk. Not a saunter through the neighborhood picking daisies either.  A serious fast walk.  Write this down on your attainable goal list, “I will walk for 30 minutes 3 times a week”.

As the weeks pass, and you are meeting your smaller goals, I encourage to up the ante and challenge yourself.  Decrease the soda intake a little more, totally drop fast food from your culinary choices and increase your walks to 45 minutes.

When you meet or exceed your smaller goals, the larger goal becomes so much more attainable and realistic.

And remember, if you have exercise or nutrition questions, I would be thrilled to offer you some free advice.  You can contact me via the contact page at http://www.fulltiltfitnesstraining.com or call me at 727-418-9127.

Medicine Ball Walkover

Today’s exercise, The Medicine Ball Walkover is similar to a traditional push up, except it engages many more muscles due to the single arm load and the uneven surfaces.

Begin by placing the ball in front of you.  Get into a plank position, similar to the traditional push up, with both hands on the ball and your feet out behind you.  Remove your right hand from the ball and set it on the floor to the right of the ball.  Shift the weight of your upper body over to your right arm.  Slowly bend your elbows and lower your body down towards the top of the ball.  Push back up to the starting position placing both hands once again on the ball. Remove your left hand from the ball and set it on the floor to the left of the ball.  Again, slowly bend your elbows and lower your body down towards the top of the ball. That is one repetition.

Saturday Morning Exercise Group

I think a daily exercise regimen that involves whole, natural movements, stretching, core training, with a dose of aerobics thrown in is the way to go.

You use all of your muscles. It helps tighten everything up a bit. It gives you balance and it gives you energy. And you can do it in 45 minutes to an hour.

For $5.00 this Saturday morning, Michelle Turner who is a certified personal trainer, can show you how you can accomplish this type of workout with minimal or no equipment. And you WILL feel like you worked out after training with her.

So, at 8:00am at Indian Shores Public Beach Access, Michelle will be holding a group class. All levels of fitness are welcome. You will learn a lot, have fun and get a great workout. Cost of the class is only $5.00 per person and each class will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour.

Call or text Michelle to RSVP. 727-418-9127

Make Your Own Vitamin Water

Make your own vitamin water. Add fruits instead of sugar for a natural sweetener for your H20. Cut the fruit into paper-thin slices or small chunks. Combine ingredients with water. Refrigerate 4-6 hours and serve over ice. So delicious and very refreshing!

Marketing Efforts = Fun!

As you all know from my recent marketing efforts, I have expanded my personal training business to include private studio training.  Yesterday I decided to take my marketing to the streets and visit with the local business owners that surround the fitness studio.  This was a time consuming process, but oh so worth it!  Everyone I talked to was very kind, some were a little surprised, and others were very open and shared great details about their business and wares.

One such business owner was Gregg, owner of MingMing Tea.  Gregg and his wife MingMing have been in business since 2010.  These two met years ago when Gregg was an airline pilot and MingMing would fly to China to visit her family. MingMing’s family owns and operates a Tea Plantation and claim this plantation has been in their family for 300 years.

If you are a tea connoisseur you have to stop by MingMing Tea. Heck, even if you aren’t a tea connoisseur you should stop in.

This little store is packed with premium tea leaves hand picked by MingMing’s family.  The tea is fresh and organic.  They also offer a large selection of  Puer teas.  Peur tea leaves are hand picked then dried for years.  Gregg showed me a brick of Puer tea that was picked in 1953.  He even let me sample a Jasmine Peur Tea.  It tasted very nice, not bitter like some teas can be. Peur tea has been touted as a healthy tea for hundreds of years by the Chinese because it supports a healthy digestive system and studies have shown it can lower cholesterol and blood pressure.

Both Gregg and MingMing are very health conscious.  The majority of their products are geared towards a healthy life style, weight loss, healthy immune systems and so on.

While at the shop, Gregg let me taste a handful of Goji Berries too.  Yummy!

I learned so much and can honestly say I had fun!  I look forward to visiting MingMing Tea again soon.

If you want to broaden your horizons and tempt your taste buds with healthy organic teas, go to MingMing Tea at 7214 Central Ave in St. Petersburg.  Tell Gregg that Michelle sent you.
